Shadows refers to the other twelve kids that start out in Mrs. Hambridge's class. Instead of comic chapters, their individual stories will be explored through short stories written by Ian Dean. They have journeys just like the Mains do, and change over time. Unlike the Mains, they will not appear in every comic chapter, but they still have more presence than the regular Sides.
