|Character of Regents Walk|
|D.J. Leslie "The Rainman"|
|First Appearance||Big Blue (Ch.1)|
Leslie Rainman, better known as D.J. Leslie "The Rainman" is a fictional character in the Regents Walk comic series. He considers himself to be "the" radio personality and voice of the town's airwaves, and he has a penchant for jazz music and social commentary on popular culture.
Born in Widow's Perch sometime in the 1950's, Leslie grew up in the era of rock and roll music and was a member of a local garage band for a while. After graduating high school, he left Oregon and drove around the country in search of his new musical love, jazz—though he does still respect classic rock.
Eventually, he got a job in Austin, Texas as the local radio D.J. on the nightshift, but was let go for "personal differences," likely a result of his fine but narrow tastes in what he will subject his listeners' ears to, and/or his dislike for country music. However, he did meet his wife in the city.
He then returned home with her after hearing that the town was opening a second radio station, much closer to its center. He began hosting the late night portion of WKPZ's programming in 1980 and has been known for his opinions and laid-back personality and voice ever since.
His radio show plays from 10:00 at night to 8:30 in the morning, giving him odd work hours but enough time to be around his son when he's awake. He often takes him to school in the morning, and Edgar sometimes hangs out at the radio station beforehand.
Big Blue (Chapter One)
- He is one of the few adults whose first name is known, and so far the only biological parent with that distinction as well.
